Technical Director - Highways & Infrastructure

The Technical Director role in Central London presents an exceptional opportunity for experienced professionals seeking a leadership position within a growing infrastructure team. This position is perfect for a motivated individual, either a seasoned Technical Director or an Associate Director ready to step up, who can lead and develop a busy Highways & Drainage team while contributing to the business’s strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Strategic Direction : Provide visible leadership, developing a clear strategy to drive profitable growth within the team, which delivers projects across highways and infrastructure sectors.
- Project Delivery : Oversee the successful delivery of a wide range of public and private sector projects, including regeneration schemes, National Highways projects, local authority frameworks, and private developments. This will involve managing technical teams and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
- Client Management & Business Development : Manage existing client relationships while also focusing on growing the business. You will be responsible for generating new leads, building relationships, formulating tenders, and winning new work.
- Technical Oversight : Review and approve technical agreements such as S278 and S38. Act as the technical discipline lead for larger, more complex projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Act as the primary point of contact for clients, local authorities, statutory bodies, and external design teams. Ensure effective communication and coordination across all stakeholders.
- Mentorship : Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering professional development and ensuring a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Support to Regional Directors : Assist in the day-to-day management of the office, ensuring the department’s performance aligns with the company's strategic objectives.
Requirements:
- Project and Team Management: Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering large infrastructure and highways projects.
- Business Development : Demonstrated success in generating new leads, building client relationships, and winning new business.
- Technical Proficiency : Strong knowledge of highways and infrastructure design, including experience with S278 and S38 agreements.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement : Proven ability to work with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies, and external design teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Leadership & Mentorship : Experience in managing and mentoring teams, with the ability to encourage junior staff and foster a positive team culture.
