AV Engineer – London - £40,000

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Audio-Visual (AV) Engineer to join our technical team in London. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and proven experience designing, installing, and maintaining AV systems across a variety of environments — from meeting rooms and auditoriums to digital signage and video conferencing solutions.
You will work on high-profile projects, ensuring systems are delivered to the highest standards of performance, reliability, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, install, configure, and maintain AV systems, including audio, video, control systems, and networking components.
  • Provide on-site and remote support for AV solutions, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum system performance.
  • Conduct site surveys and client consultations to understand requirements and provide suitable AV solutions.
  • Integrate AV hardware and software (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX, Q-SYS, Zoom, Microsoft Teams Rooms).
  • Collaborate with project managers, IT teams, and third-party contractors to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Perform regular system testing, maintenance, and firmware/software updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve AV issues efficiently across multiple sites or client locations.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation, including schematics, user guides, and service records.
  • Stay current with emerging AV technologies and industry trends.

Requirements
Essential:
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in AV engineering, installation, or support roles.
  • Proficiency with AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX).
  • Experience with video conferencing platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, Cisco Webex, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of signal flow, audio DSPs, video matrixing, and AV over IP.
  • Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (for on-site work when required).
Desirable:
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CTS/CTS-I/CTS-D, Crestron DMC-E, Extron XTP, Dante Certification).
  • Experience working in corporate, education, broadcast, or event AV environments.
  • Working knowledge of networking (VLANs, PoE, IP addressing).
  • Experience with AutoCAD, D-Tools, or similar design/documentation tools.
