Senior Mechanical Engineer
Office Location: London
Salary: £50k - £65k

An innovative and forward-thinking engineering consultancy is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their expanding team at their London office. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for career advancement and growth in a dynamic environment.

The consultancy specialises in delivering client-focused building services, offering comprehensive solutions from the feasibility and concept stage through to delivery, completion, and post-occupancy support. Their holistic approach ensures projects are managed efficiently from start to finish.

As a growing company with a fresh and unique perspective, joining at this stage offers the chance to be part of their rapid expansion. They are engaged in a wide variety of exciting projects, ranging from underwater film studios and airport terminals to large-scale decarbonisation efforts. With a pipeline full of diverse and challenging projects, this is an ideal environment for someone seeking a broad range of experience.

The role is available in the London office, with a flexible approach to working remotely or from home, offering work-life balance and adaptability.

The consultancy is looking for senior-level engineers with the potential to progress into senior management roles in the near future. Candidates should have a strong mechanical engineering background, complemented by a solid understanding of other building services disciplines, and experience in building services design.

Key areas of expertise required include:

  • Building services design, covering all stages from concept and feasibility to detailed coordination
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles, technologies, and practices
  • Commissioning processes and industry best practices
  • On-site technical service management
  • Contractor monitoring and quality assurance
  • Surveying and validation work
  • Experience across sectors such as commercial, fit-out, film studios, residential, sports facilities, leisure, life-science, education, and data centres
Candidates with limited experience in any of these areas are encouraged to apply, as extensive training and development opportunities are provided, allowing team members to gain well-rounded skills in both office-based and on-site roles.

Ideal candidates will be comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of larger teams, with excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly to non-technical partners and clients—key to the consultancy's collaborative approach.

This role also offers the opportunity for significant client-facing responsibilities, paving the way for accelerated career development.

 Preferred qualifications and skills include:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in mechanical or building services engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience in a consultancy or contracting design role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in preparing technical reports and performance specifications
